A Trike for Harold
One day I was out riding my trike and Michael was on his bike zooming along on the service road. We were half way back from the post office in Portarlington which is about 3K round trip from home. I could see an elderly gentleman “rushing” out his front door, waving frantically as if to stop me as well as just saying hello. So, I got off my trike just out the front of his garage and he was still hurrying toward me. I thought he was just going to say hello. He was so excited he started telling me, he had been waiting ages – since we went past to go in to town. He wanted to make sure he stopped me to find out where he could get a trike like mine!
As we kept talking I told him how I found mine on the Internet and if he wanted me to, I would go home and see if I could find one for him. What are the chances?
We introduced ourselves and Harold told us he is 84 and was an amateur racing cyclist but now finds it difficult to balance!!
Oh I found a trike for Harold that same day, I printed the information and rode down on my trike to give it to him the next day! Needless to say he was grateful and after calling the people, he organised to pick it up (from Melbourne) and he put the trike together himself in less than a week. Two weeks after we first met, he brought his shiny new trike around to show us!!!
There are now two of us in Portarlington riding a trike with a smile and a wave!
